In the voice of the water, in the rustling trees, in the groaning woods,
In the crying grass, in the moaning rocks, in every earthly thing.
Listen for the breath of the ancestors, in memories, both good and bad,
In remembrances of family members and loved ones,
In the fires that honor them, in the stones that mark their absence.
Listen for the breath of the ancestors, in the things we do today,
Things we do to carry forward their passions and commitments,
Things we do because we learned these things from them.
Listen for the breath of the ancestors, in this shining moment,
As we pause together for a time of shared silence.
Listen for the breath of the ancestors and remember:
So long as we live, they too shall live, for they are now a part of us,
Now and always, when we remember. Amen!
