It was dark when we arrived last night
at the AirBnB for a quick anniversary getaway
and we just wanted to sleep late today
but our dog was up and ready to go early
wanting to explore or maybe go home
and now she is stationed at a front window
staring intently at goings-on in the street
while just beyond her red leaves blaze
on a beautiful little maple tree next door
on this beautiful early November morning.
