It’s three weeks till Christmas and colder
than usual, bleaker than normal, frostier
than expected for this time of year, which
somehow always ends up being too much
even when pared down, even when every
effort has been made to simplify things,
even when the chilly winds are blowing,
bidding us to bundle up, stay home and rest.
