Blue skies in the distance
are slightly faded
with fall colors and sun
has not yet appeared
overhead among last night’s
rain cloud remnants
while barely perceptible
wind stirs only the highest
branches of nearby trees
and everything waits
for inevitably what is
next in a weary world.
