July 29: Deep Green

Deep green awaits in distant Southern woods

Away from stress of daily grind and grin,

And creatures of the forest dwell in moods

Of quiet wonder far from senseless din.

Such placid verdant scenes restore my soul

And broken shards of living are made whole.
