April 1: Brave and Foolish

"Here comes the time, when people will behave like madmen, and if they see anybody who does not behave like that, they will rebel against him and say: 'You are mad', — because he is not like them." (Anthony the Great, 251-356)

When every day is April Fool’s Day,

When all the world has lost its mind,

When each path leads to the precipice,

When the Beast sashays rather than slouching,

Then the world needs us to be sacred fools,

Unencumbered by societal and political convention,

Unafraid to speak even the harshest truths,

Unbent by corruption and torrents of trauma,

Unbowed by brute force and unjust leaders.

Let us be courageous: brave and foolish together.

February 9: Too Much Nose Blowing

Too much nose blowing in this lovely hotel room where I wish I'd slept.
